Grape Agua Fresca (Printable)

A vibrant Mexican blend of fresh grapes, lime, and sweetened water creates this cooling beverage perfect for warm days.

# What You Need:

→ Fruit

01 - 3 cups seedless red or green grapes, washed

→ Liquids and Sweeteners

02 - 3 cups cold water
03 - 2-3 tablespoons sugar, adjust to taste
04 - 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

→ Garnish

05 - Ice cubes for serving
06 - Fresh mint leaves or extra grapes for garnish, optional

# How-To Steps:

01 - Combine grapes, water, sugar, and lime juice in a blender. Blend on high speed until completely smooth and frothy, approximately 1-2 minutes.
02 - Pour blended mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean pitcher. Press solids with spoon to extract all liquid. Discard pulp.
03 - Taste the agua fresca and add additional sugar or lime juice as desired. Stir thoroughly until dissolved.
04 - Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled, approximately 30 minutes, or serve immediately over ice. Garnish with fresh mint sprigs or whole grapes if desired.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The sweetness comes entirely from the grapes themselves, making it feel like youre drinking something indulgent when its actually just fruit and water
  • It takes literally five minutes from start to finish, which means you can make it when guests are already walking through the door
  • The color is absolutely stunning in glass pitchers, making it look like you put in way more effort than you actually did
02 -
  • Do not skip the straining step unless you want a texture that feels like youre drinking a smoothie through a straw, which is not the traditional agua fresca experience
  • Overripe grapes will make your drink taste fermented and slightly off, so use grapes that still have some firmness when you bite into them
  • The sugar dissolves faster if you blend it with everything else instead of trying to stir it in at the end
03 -
  • Blend the grapes with a little bit of the water first to break them down before adding the rest, which helps prevent any chunks from surviving the blending process
  • If you do not have a fine mesh sieve, several layers of cheesecloth work beautifully and you can really squeeze out every drop of juice
